Password vault

As a security-concious human on the internet, I rely on a password vault to keep the fragments of my online identity segmented and secure. Until you become familiar with the risks, it sounds counter-intuitive to use a single place to store all of your passwords. However, every password is just part of an identity contract with random vendors and websites where you can't control how securely they store their copy of your password. Password vaults encourage using individual, random passwords for each service to limit the damage to you if one of your passwords gets exposed.

While most password vaults operate similarly (such as having password generators and browser plugins), I've currently settled on 1Password. It has a few paid-for features, but supports file system synchronisation for both the Android and iOS app, letting me use a File synchronisation tool (like SyncThing) to personally manage my password vault, without needing to use their subscription service.
