Projects

I won some work to do a vibe-coding app assessment, reviewing the app and codebase and providing the client with a list of recommendations and how to progress towards them. I did the work on behalf of Engineer Cat.
I'm still iterating on a miniseries of articles, tentatively named "Prompting in Prod". But I've also taken some time for some smaller writeups about other things I've been working on:
- To help me keep track of my Claude usage I wrote a couple of Node Red automations, Automation Bites: Claude usage and Automation Bites: Session digests.
- I do a lot of diagramming with LLM assistance, typically with Mermaid, and now with D2. I did a write-up comparing LLM-assisted D2, Mermaid and freestyle SVG drawing in Drawing diagrams with LLMs.
I was interviewed for the new BBC Radio 4 podcast "The Value Crisis". The series is about how our perception of value has changed due to the influence of technology in our lives, how it changes how we interact and how we work.
I built a deck in my back yard, connecting the external lounge door to the patio. Good opportunity to put some skills and tools to use.

I've been getting back into Quake, playing through the recently released Dawn of the Machine and Dwell Episode 2. These episodes are beautiful, and the music is truly excellent. Lots of fun to play.

Currently staying in Melbourne, Victoria. Visiting the city for coffee catchups, and collab work with ex-colleagues.
